Road to Heavener

Mia has been so energetic lately. She has started walking wide-legged over toys in the floor. Her container with her pop links is almost too tall for it, but she giggles anyway. It makes me laugh when she walks that way with a wide stance over something little like her sippy cup in the floor.

She surprised me the other day by crossing her fingers. I would have thought she was too young to have that kind of coordination, but she's always amazing me with some new talent or another. She was crossing her fingers at people in the checkout line at the grocery store this evening. One lady did it back at her which she thought was great!

Mia and I went to Heavener this weekend for the 4th. Traffic getting out of Dallas was awful, and it was pouring down rain. I finally just stopped so we could eat dinner. We ate at Whataburger, and Mia loved her chicken strips and fries. She almost never eats fast food, but I had few options due to the torrential downpour outside. The rain, traffic, and an accident really slowed us down. It rained on us all the way from Dallas to Durant! We didn't get to Wilburton until after 11:00. By then, it was time for one last potty break at the Plaza. I thought I might as well change Mia's diaper while we were in there. I knew she had one more diaper in her bag. By this time of the evening, I'm exhausted. I take off Mia's diaper and reach for the last one in the bag. I start to put it on her only to discover that one side of it is missing the velcro strip that holds it in place. Sheesh! It made me laugh out loud in the bathroom. I just rigged it as best I could and then changed her again when I got back out to the car where the rest of the diapers were!

As Homer Simpson would say, "D'oh!"
