A Visit From Uncle Marcus

My brother came down this weekend for a visit and to spend some time with Mia. I had to work so that made catching up with him kinda hard, but we still had a few laughs. We picked Mia up from day care on Friday afternoon and took her to see Dr. Curry for her two month check-up. Everything looked fine, and she has gained some weight, so that was good news. Apparently, I missed a huge eruption when Mt. Mia spewed a generous portion of spit-up on Uncle Marcus' foot and the surrounding floor.

Marcus also got in some training on the bottle.

Also, today is Vincent Van Gogh's birthday. Check out this painting he did from 1885, which, I would imagine, is possibly the world's first anti-smoking advertisement.

Mia at two months (more or less)

Wow. Hard to believe it's been almost a month since my last post. It's even harder to believe that Mia is now two months old. There's not a whole lot of news to tell, so we'll get to the photos soon. The biggest bit of news is that Jessica went back to work last Monday, and Mia started going to day care. She seems to be doing really well with it so far, and Jessica and I are pleased with everything the facility has to offer, and all the instructors have been super.

In the two months Mia's been here, I have learned one thing: Jackson Pollock ain't got nothin' on my daughter. It would be cool if I could hang one of her diapers in the Museum of Modern Art and get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for it.

Mia at five weeks

Not too much going on this week. The three of us toured the day care center where Mia is going to go once Jessica starts back to work. We were very pleased with the facility and all the instructors we met. The day care is in a church not too far from our house, so it will be easy for Jess to drop her off in the mornings and for me to pick her up in the afternoons. We think it will be a good fit for Mia and for us as a family. Plus, as she gets older, she will be able to participate in curriculums that will get her ready for kindergarten.

In other news, Mia's starting to hold her head up on her own. We also think that's she's starting to grin at us a little. I mean, she grins for sure, but that's usually when she's passing gas. We think she's starting to grin at us because she finds us mildly amusing.

But enough of my blather. On to the photos!

This is her being slightly amused at SOMETHING. I think maybe she was staring at the ceiling fan?

And this is either her "What are you doing?" face, or her "Oh, jeez, not another photo..." face. We're still not sure.
