Much Better

Mia has been feeling much better today.  As a precaution, I gave her some medicine this morning.  She asked me what kind it was, and I told her "grape".  I guess she heard me wrong because she said, "Oh, I love gravy!"  I corrected her, and she was just as happy to be getting grape medicine.  Gravy-flavored medicine - Ew!

I left the room and came back to see Dr. Mia taking Ruby's temperature in the shopping cart.  She kept sticking it in Ruby's ear and pressing the button.  She said, "It's okay Ruby.  You'll be okay."  She has such a sweet heart.

Side note:  Today is Mia's first Leap Day.  February 29th won't be back for four years, but this was a great day!

Not Feeling Top Notch

13 weeks tomorrow.  Wow, my first trimester is almost over.  Now, when will the nausea go away?  It's all for a good cause, though.  I went the weekend before last to a kids consignment sale.  There was so. much. stuff!  I bought a few things for baby #2 that we either borrowed when we had Mia or just didn't have.  I got him/her a walker, jumperoo, rocking dragon (they were out of rocking horses), and even a new Bumbo.  It's nice to already have purchased the few big items I wanted to get.  I feel like we pretty much have everything else.  That is, except for clothes.  If this is a boy, we'll have to buy (mostly) all new stuff.  However, even if it's a girl, the clothing sizes will be off seasonally since Mia was born in January and this baby is due in September.  Just an excuse to buy more clothes, right?

My poor Amelia hasn't been feeling well for the past few days.  She's had a fever off and on since Friday.  Each time we're about to take her to the doctor, the fever goes away.  When I picked her up from daycare today, she was doing great.  Her teacher said she'd just had a runny nose today.  However, after we'd been home for about an hour, she started getting a fever again.  The first time I checked it, it was 100.  The second time it was 102.  I gave her some Children's Tylenol and we put her to bed a little while ago.  She was ready too.  Before we could walk away from her bed and to her bedroom door, she was saying, "Turn the light off, please."  Hope she's feeling better in the morning.  Otherwise, I'm taking her to the doctor for sure.

Feeling fine Friday morning

Not feeling so great this afternoon.  She started out laying on the couch and watching her fave, Mickey Mouse.  You'll notice that by this time she is facing the back of the couch.  Looking the other way when Mickey is on is a red flag that this girl does not feel well.
I tried to get her to eat some dinner.  She just crawled into the floor and laid down again.  Poor baby.

Tiptoe Thru The Tulips

Today we made a trip to the Dallas Arboretum with Nana and Keith.  It has been an especially mild winter here in north Texas, and the weather today has been beautiful.  We wandered through all of the water features, flowers, and (yes, I'm gonna say it) general splendor.
Just imagine these trees in full bloom...

Nice view of White Rock Lake

This is always a favorite at the Arboretum

OC Mardi Gras Parade

On Sunday, we met Mia's friend, Reese, and her family on Davis Street for the Oak Cliff Mardi Gras parade.  There were lots of great floats this year.  I love that Oak Cliff makes a big deal of Mardi Gras.  So fun!

There was a whole herd of Elvises on motorcycles

A parade just isn't complete without a marching band or two.

My Valentines

I've been absent from the blog world recently.  This first trimester of pregnancy has been giving me a run for my money.  The fatigue has been overwhelming at times.  I know that the symptoms are just temporary though.  I'm 11 weeks now, so hopefully there will be some relief in the next few weeks.

It's a little overdue, but here's a recap of Valentine's Day.  The weekend before, Wes and Mia had a daddy/daughter date at Chick-fil-a.  Mia was excited about dressing up for her "date".  They had a good time.
After work on Valentine's Day, Wes walked through the front door with a dozen roses and a box of chocolates for me.  When Mia saw him, she said, "Oh, you brought me flowers!  Thank you Daddy!"  Wes was a little taken aback, but being the awesome daddy he is, he said, "Here you go, baby."  She stood there just holding the flowers and candy with a big smile.  That girl loves her daddy, and I love him too.  What a sweet man!
