Supergirl

We went to Trunk or Treat at church on Wednesday.  We don't take Mia around to other houses so Trunk or Treat is a nice alternative.  Mia's costume was Supergirl.  She was so adorable!  There were hundreds of kids there, so it was really hectic at times.  I didn't see another Supergirl costume, but we took Mia's picture with a boy dressed as Superman.  We participated again this year as one of the cars that kids come by for candy.  I decorated our car as a pumpkin patch.  It was cute, and Mia loved the pumpkins.  I had intended to walk around to all of the cars with Mia while Wesley handed out candy, but she got a big kick out of handing out the candy too.  We saw a lot of kids and teachers she knows from the daycare.  She would take off running to play every time she saw her friend, Reese.  We were all tired by the time it was over, but it was fun as always!
She was flying like an airplane.

Breakin' Out the Fleece

Today was a little chilly, and tomorrow is supposed to be even colder.  Mia had to wear a her coat to "school" today.  It's still a smidge big for her, but she'll grow into it in no time.  This is the first night this fall that Mia has worn fleece pj's to bed.  They are so soft and cuddly!  It's getting colder finally.  I hadn't bought Mia any short-sleeved shirts in the next size up because I thought it would be cold before now.  Her long sleeve shirts fit much better.  I'm ready for snow! Yeah, right.  It was 80 degrees here like three days ago...
This was the look I got when I interrupted her for a picture as she was reading a book.

Flower Girl

My sister, Rachel, got married yesterday at the Runestone, and Mia was the flower girl.  She did really well.  I was the maid of honor (I told Rachel I'm too young to be called a matron, married or not!).  I figured that Mia would see me already standing up at the front and just walk to me.  Just to be safe, we had my cousin, Kaylee, walk with her in case she got sidetracked.  I knew that the notion of throwing flower petals would be a little beyond her comprehension at this age, so we nixed that idea.  Instead, I made her a flower ball to carry.  It was super easy to make.  I just took a foam floral ball and ran a pen through it to create an opening.  Then, I pushed the ribbon through to make a loop and tied the ends.  Next, I cut the stems off of fresh button mums and attached them to the ball using one corsage pin for each flower.  I was extremely pleased with how it turned out.  Mia carried it around calling it her purse.  Mia did her flower girl job well, but like any 1 1/2 year old, she can't stand still for long.  I had to hold her for awhile until she got too wiggly.  When I put her down, she sat down in the floor and tried to crawl away.  Did I mention that this was during the ceremony?  I was bent over with one hand holding onto Mia when Rachel was handing me her bouquet so that they could light the unity candle.  Oh well, you just have to laugh.  Nobody cared.  We're all a pretty easy-going bunch.  Little Zoey behaved like an angel during the ceremony.  She and Mia had matching dresses.  They looked so precious.  Rachel and Jay had a happy day, and we're glad to welcome Jay into the family!
Zoey is such a happy baby!

Zoey was tired of the dress, so her entourage changed her clothes while Mia supervised.

Mia loved her flower ball and insisted on holding it when we got into the car.

To Tumble or Not to Tumble?

Mia thought about trying to roll into the grass, but she wasn't quite sure what the next step was from here.  She just kept bending over and giggling.

More Pumpkins!

Here is part two of the pumpkin village pictures.

Mia wanted to touch the pumpkins and gourds that were different colors and textures.  To be honest, some of them looked kind of gross...hehe!

Our Little Pumpkin

Today, Wesley and I took Mia to the Dallas Arboretum.  The arboretum is just massive amounts of flowers in tons of gardens.  They also sponsor different events and activities throughout the year.  We had never been there before.  We heard about the Pumpkin Village that was on display there.  It was a group of four small buildings that were entirely covered in pumpkins.  There were also thousands (seriously, thousands) of pumpkins and gourds scattered on the ground at the pumpkin village and all around the arboretum.  While Wesley was trying to get a picture of Mia holding a pumpkin, I spotted his friend, Jon, and Jon's daughter, Harper.  We were excited that Holly (Jon's wife) and their little boy, Jasper, were there as well.  Think of how many thousands of people live in Dallas, and we just happen to run into some of our great friends!  It took Mia and Harper a few minutes to recognize each other, but then they just ran around and had a good ol' time.  I didn't realize that the arboretum is located on the shores of White Rock Lake, and some of the views were really pretty.  We definitely plan to go back!  FYI: There are LOTS of pictures on this post!!

Harper and Mia

Daddy had to peak his head around to see out of the "gourd window" too!

There are too many fun pictures to choose from, so I think I'll split this into two posts.
