34 Weeks

I went today for my 34 week appointment with Quinn.  I've been have some problems with sciatic nerve pain.  It's definitely no bueno.  After a pretty rough few days with it, I was finally feeling a little better this afternoon.  My doctor was back in the office for my appointment.  She was feeling of my stomach and suddenly laughed.  She said, "I poked him, and he poked me back!"  Yeah, that's my boy!  He doesn't take kindly to being poked and prodded.  She was happy with his progress, and I go back to see her in two weeks.  At that appointment, we'll have our final ultrasound to check his position, get an idea of his weight, etc.  I'm excited for that.  I can't wait to see him...even just in black and white.

I went out to lunch with some co-workers the other day to Gloria's.  As I unfolded my napkin, it occurred to me that I hadn't been to a restaurant in awhile that had cloth napkins.  I couldn't help but start giggling.  My friend, Dana, asked me what was so funny.  I told her that I had no lap to put my napkin in.  My belly was touching the table.  She said I should just tuck it into the collar of my shirt.  Haha!  I didn't, but I did actually consider it.

When I went to pick Mia up from daycare, she came running at me saying, "My baby!  My baby!"  She hugged my stomach tight.  I said, "Your baby?"  She told me, "Yes, Mommy.  It's my baby!"  She already really loves Quinn.  She kept kissing my stomach and putting blankets on it for Quinn this evening.  She likes to make silly faces at my tummy.  Then, she laughs and says, "Quinn thinks that's sooo funny!"

One story that I don't think I ever posted about here on the blog happened several weeks ago.  Mia likes to talk directly into my belly button often.  One day, she walked up to me, pulled up my shirt, and shined her little, pink flashlight into my belly button.  When I asked her what she was doing, she said she was looking for her brother!  I guess she figures that my belly button is an all-access point to Quinn.  Haha!

Quinn's Baby Shower

Last Saturday was my baby shower in Heavener for Quinn.  I asked that it be kept simple and laid back.  After going to a few baby showers, I've found that most people don't really care for baby shower games, so we didn't do any of those.  It was really nice with yummy snacks, a marbled cake w/ whipped icing (my fave-thanks Mom!), and some pretty delicious punch that Bev made.  It was great to see family and friends.  I was super excited that my best friend, Nikki, came with her mom and daughter.  Her mom, Mary, was like a second mom to me growing up, and I've missed seeing her, too.  Quinn got a lot of cute clothes and other goodies.  Mia didn't know what a baby shower was.  When I told her that we were going to it, I explained that it was a party for Quinn because everyone is excited that he will be here soon.  I told her they would bring him presents, and we would have cake and punch.  She said, "Oh Mommy!  I need to get Quinn a present too!"  I thought that was sweet of her.  We went to the store, and I let her pick out a present for him.  She chose a train that sings the ABCs.  We put it in a gift bag and took it to the baby shower.  She was so proud to show everyone what she got him!

Mia wanted to help me open Quinn's presents.  :)

32 Weeks

Here we are at 32 weeks!  I had a doctor's appointment this morning, and Mia practically begged to go with me.  I took her since she hasn't been to any of the other appointments so far.  I had to see a different doctor in the practice this morning.  Apparently, since I was there a couple of weeks ago, my ob broke her foot.  Ouch!  They said she'll be back by my next appointment, though.  I guess it's good that I met that other doctor.  If my water breaks on its own again like it did with Mia, there's no telling which doctor will be on call.

Mia had LOTS of questions.  "Why are you laying on that table?",  "Why is that lady (the doctor) feeling of your tummy?", and my all-time favorite "Mommy, why are you going pee pee in that cup?"  Haha!!  She tells everyone at daycare that her brother, Quinn, is in her mommy's tummy.  Her friend, Reese, ran up to me when I got there this afternoon and said, "Is Baby Quinn still in there?" while pointing to my stomach.  I told her that he was, and she said, "Yeah, he'll come out in two minutes."  "Two MONTHS," I corrected her.  "Yeah, two months," she agreed.  Mia had to tell her teacher all about my doctor's appointment.  I let her chatter on until I heard her say, "...and then my mommy pee peed in a cup!"  Oh geez...her teacher cracked up...and I did too!

Her Very Own Pool

Mia was super excited when Nana brought her a hot pink pool this weekend.  She couldn't wait to get in it.  She got to play with some new boats and attempted to play with some water guns I'd gotten her.  She and Nana never could get them to squirt water, though.  I guess that's what I get for buying them in the dollar aisle.  It was pretty hot outside, so after Mia munched on a popsicle, I had to go back inside.  The heat was making my feet all puffy.  Mia is ready to get her pool out again.  I know she'll make good use of it.  It's a great way to beat the heat.
Excitedly waiting for the pool to fill up.

Our Fourth of July

Since the fourth of July fell on a Wednesday this year, it made going out of town to see fireworks with family impossible.  We were invited to our friends' house for a pool party and cookout, though.  Oh my goodness, it was so much fun.  Earlier in the day, Mia and I made some homemade ice cream.  Well, I guess it was really just me.  Mia opted to supervise.  She had cartoons to watch and couldn't be bothered with the details of ice cream making.  I'd never made ice cream before (with the exception of snow ice cream), so as per usual, I decided to make things more difficult and attempted to make rocky road rather than just a simple flavor.  I was pleased with the result, and it was a hit at the cookout.  However, I used a store-bought mix.  I'm certain that if I make it from scratch next time, it will be even better.  Mia gave it a thumbs up as well.  I found myself thinking about how next fourth of July we will be a family of four and get to all celebrate together!
Mia had to test the ice cream immediately.  She loved it!  Is it just me or is her hair getting long?
She loves swimming and wouldn't even take her floaties off to eat.

Miss Z Turns 2

I'm so behind on blogging...sigh.  This post is about Zoey's birthday party that was almost two weeks ago.  It was lots of fun, and the sweet birthday girl had a blast.  Mia was excited to see everyone and went swimming again. Since Zoey's birthday is on July 2nd, Rachel went with a patriotic theme for the party.  It was really cute. Mia loaded up on cake and ice cream.  So happy that we got to be a part of Z's special day!
