Papa's 80th Bday Party

My Papa turned 80 years old earlier this month, and he doesn't like to be the center of attention at a party.  To throw him off the scent of a surprise party, my Nanny decided the party would be at the end of the month.  There was a LOT of family there.  It was so, so much fun.  There was a lot of visiting, a beautiful prayer by my Uncle Steve, and delicious food!  Papa was truly touched that so many people (both friends and family) came to celebrate his birthday.  He's always been an amazing grandfather, and I'm so happy that we got to spend that special day with him!

Quinn Turns 1!

Sweet Quinn...how many ways can I describe how much I love this boy?  He is pure joy.  This year has flown by, and I've treasured every moment.  Our baby is one year old today!  It's funny how things you think you can't handle before having kids are no problem when it's your own child.  Diaper blowouts, rocking a feverish baby to sleep at 3:00am, betting baby puke in your eye...Yes, it's all happened to me, and no I don't mind.  It's a privilege to be able to care for both of my babies.  Parenthood is an amazing gift.  Sometimes Wes and I just have to remind ourselves that we WILL get to sleep more someday.  Haha!

Quinn has been such a wonderful addition to our family.  He's so mellow and lovable.  We're starting to wonder if he might be a bit of a daredevil, though.  He loves to climb on anything and everything.  You have to watch that boy like a hawk because he'll crawl as fast as he can go and be in the next room before you blink.  He's such a boy!  He loves to get into the trash, crawl under furniture, and we caught him throwing a toy in the toilet one day.  He cracks me up.  When you hear his laughter, it's impossible not to laugh, too.  Little stinker!  I love being this boy's momma!  Happy birthday sweet boy!!

Going for a Swim

I took Quinn into the swimming pool for the first time on Sunday at my dad's.  We didn't swim a whole lot this summer, so there weren't many opportunities for Q to try it out.  Plus, Quinn is sensitive to the heat.  If he's outside very long and it's hot, he'll get a heat rash.  I've tried to keep him inside when I can this summer.  I knew this would probably be our last time to swim this year, so I got in the water with him.  Mia swam with Nana Bev while I held Quinn.  Mia loves to swim, but this year she's reverted back to being scared of not holding on to someone.  Hopefully, next year we'll be able to be in the water more so that she can get comfortable with swimming by herself (with floaties).  Quinn enjoyed being in the pool.  He declined to wear the hat I kept putting on his head, but other than that he liked it!

Q's 1st Birthday Party

We had Quinn's 1st birthday party in Heavener.  It's difficult to plan a party from another state, so I tried to keep things simple.  We went with a sock monkey theme, and it was so adorable.  Quinn was a great little guest of honor.  He gave out lots of smiles and giggles to everyone who wanted to hold him.  Q was a little confused when he was given his smash cake.  He had no idea what we wanted him to do with it.  He ate quite a bit of frosting, but never really dug into the cake itself.  Mia wanted him to destroy it, I think.  Once she grabbed his hand and attempted to stick it in the cake, but Quinn didn't want to do that.  He enjoyed it, though, and even tried to feed me some frosting from his sweet little sticky fingers.  He got a bit of a sugar rush from it which was funny to watch afterward.  It was a great first birthday party for our baby boy.  We loved celebrating him with our families!  I didn't get pictures of everyone who was there.  Some of you are very good at evading the camera!  You know who you are...;)  As always, our families were a huge help in preparing for the party and cleaning up after.  Thank you so much everyone for being part of this special day!  We love you all!!
