Baby Bling

Nanny has a bunch of Mardi Gras beads that the kids play with at her house. Mia loves them as well. She enjoys throwing them in the floor about as much as she likes wearing them.

Mia especially liked a purple car she found.

Dreaming of a White Christmas

We woke up Christmas morning at Grammy and Pa Pa's house to a blanket of snow on the ground. I love that Mia's first Christmas was a white Christmas. Snow on Christmas morning just sets the tone for the whole holiday. We brought Mia in to see her gifts from Santa Claus, and she seemed a bit confused about what we wanted her to do. Then, she spied her pink baby doll under the tree. You'd think the child had won the lottery. She was wiggling and squirming to get to her baby doll. When she got it, she immediately wrapped her arms around it and sank her two teeth into it. She loved it. She also enjoyed sitting on the riding toy that Grammy and Pa Pa got her. She couldn't quite figure out how to go forward, but she's getting pretty good at going in reverse. I started a tear in the paper of each present as I gave it to her. The concept of unwrapping the gifts was an elusive one at first, but then she sort of got the hang of it. We helped her some, but I think she liked tearing the paper.

Wesley, Mia, and I went out to Papaw and Nana Bev's for breakfast and presents next. Spenser, Kennedy, Kacy, and Ryan were there also. The guys played some Guitar Hero, but I had the most fun with the Wii. I liked the bowling game a lot. Mia was with her Papaw while we played it. She got the giggles when Mattie (Dad's black lab) started giving her kisses. She's never met a dog yet that she doesn't like.

We've been trying to show Mia how to give a high five. Sometimes she makes an attempt to do it, but we're working on it. Her newest accomplishment is learning to wave bye bye. It's so cute to see her little fist opening and closing.

On Saturday, we did our usual bouncing around from house to house to see more people. That evening, we went to Aunt Denise's house. Drew and Kaci were there with little Brody. He is so cute and sweet. It was a nice visit.

Mia's first Christmas was wonderful, and I'm glad we got to share it with our families!

Christmas Eve 09

Mia's first Christmas was amazing! We saw so many people we love this weekend. We missed seeing Nana, but we hope she's coming to see us soon. On Christmas Eve, we went over to Nanny and Papa's house. There was lots of good food and fun games. Bring on the pictures...

Countdown to Christmas

Cleaning house, shopping, wrapping presents...is there really anything else that gets done the week before Christmas? It's been busy around here preparing for Mia's first Christmas. I wrapped some of her presents, but (call me lazy) a few of them I left unwrapped to put under the tree from Santa. The shopping is finished, hopefully. I just have to finish wrapping. Woo hoo! Mia will be 11 months old on Christmas day. I can't believe her first birthday is almost here! I think we've decided to have her birthday party in Heavener, but we don't have the details ironed out yet.

We went to a birthday party for Mia's daycare buddy Laila on Saturday. Another girl from daycare, Kelsey, was also there. The girls sat in the middle of the floor while we all watched them play with Laila's toys as they were unwrapped. It was pretty hilarious watching them take toys from each other and crawl around. Laila is such a sweetie, and the party was lots of fun!

It's a little small but still cute.
Winnie the Pooh must be a cover-hog.
We didn't cover him up. Either Mia tucked him in, or he got cold.

Happy Little Shopper

Mia likes going to the grocery store. She watches all of the people going about their business. She hasn't gotten to the stage yet where she puts random things in the cart, though. I keep the shelves out of her reach just in case. When we went grocery shopping on Tuesday, she insisted on holding our list. You can't see it, but I promise she is strapped into the cart. She's so small that the strap was up under her arms.

Meeting the Big Man

Mia got to meet Ol' Saint Nick yesterday. For a fairly short line, it took us awhile to make it to the guy in the red suit. My baby girl was dressed to match him in her little red velvet dress with white fur trim. Mia wasn't too incredibly interested in all of the decorations which surprised me. She must've been thinking hard about what to tell Santa she wanted. She doesn't mind strangers, so I wasn't worried about her freaking out on his lap. However, there must have been too much audio/visual stimulation because she didn't smile for her picture. She just stared wide-eyed at the camera. Maybe she was overwhelmed at meeting the Big Man himself. I don't know what she asked him for, but I'm sure she'll get it. She's been a good girl this year.

Food journal: We started Mia on yogurt this week. She's had both vanilla and banana flavored yogurt and loved it. Yeah for dairy! I think we'll try her on egg yolks sometime soon. Maybe a baby omelet with veggies. Next on the veggie list is zucchini. Cantaloupe will be her next new fruit. Yum!

Laying Low

It's been a quiet weekend around here. Mia and I are both getting over whatever it was we had. She is finished with her antibiotics and breathing treatments. We've just been taking it easy and trying to stay out of the cold air.

My Snow Angel

It snowed in Dallas this morning! It doesn't snow here very often, so it's a big deal when it does. None of it stuck to the ground, but it was beautiful when it was falling. I tried to get a picture of Mia in the falling snow while in her carseat, but you can't see the snow. If you blow up the picture, you'll see blurry spots on it. Yeah...that's the snow. Anyway, it was the first snowfall of the winter, so it required a picture.

Mia has been feeling much better the past couple of days. We will continue her on the antibiotic and breathing treatments for a couple more days, but then she should be fine. Dr. Curry said that her congestion sounds better, but he discovered an ear infection. Poor baby. I've been trying to keep her indoors. That's not too difficult since it's cold. Look at these pictures. She doesn't look sick at all!
