Big 6 Year Old

Amelia is six years old today!  She was born on a Sunday, so that day has been replaying in my head today.  That small and precious newborn has become a bright, bubbly, and kind girl who I love to spend time with.  We went to Spring Creek BBQ for a birthday lunch.  Mia loves to pose for the camera.  She was making silly faces at me.  She's such a treasure, and I love her so much!

Mia's 6th Bday Party

Mia had her birthday party today at Texas Discovery Gardens.  In addition to the gardens, they included admission to the Butterfly House for Mia and her guests.  Many old friends and new friends alike were there to celebrate our sweet girl.  Mia had asked for a fairy party, so that's what she got.  It ended up being a Woodland Fairy and Butterfly theme.  I enjoyed planning it.  Mia chose her cake design, and we asked the same lady we always use to make it for her.  She did a fantastic job, and Mia adored the cake!  The kids all enjoyed the Butterfly House as well.  It was a fun party, and we're so happy that Mia's friends and family were able to be there!

Party Prep

We have a girl in our house who will turn 6 years old on Sunday.  We've been working on decorations for her party tomorrow.  She wanted to be involved, so I put her to work painting pinecones.  They look really cute.  I finished the "A" that will be on display.  Just a few more things to complete, and we'll be ready.  Mia is excited to see her friends tomorrow!

Cookie Season!

Girl Scout cookie season has begun!  They do it differently than when I was a little girl.  Back then, you turned in your orders and then you picked up the cookies.  Nowadays, you get the cookies in advance and then sell them.  I think it's a little difficult to know how many boxes you'll sell, but we're just going to wing it.  Mia took the Radio Flyer wagon full of cookies door to door this afternoon.  She did pretty well!  It was good for her to learn how to talk to customers.  In between each house I would remind her to speak up and knock loudly.  She gained confidence as we went.  I tried to turn it into an opportunity to learn how to count money, too.  There was more to it than just selling cookies, and I love that about Girl Scouts.  Our neighbors were so nice, too.  Most of them were happy to support our little Girl Scout!

Gettin' Our BBQ On

Nice family lunch at Spring Creek BBQ.  So delicious!  Wesley and I love their barbeque.  Mia and Quinn like that they can get ice cream there.  It's a win-win!

New Year's Day

We've been having a nice new year's day at home.  Mia and Quinn have been playing dress up, watching movies, and all kinds of fun.  While little brother was taking a nap, Mia got to paint.  It's been a pleasant, laid back day!  Happy new year!

Princesses and Pirates

Nana surprised Mia and Quinn with tickets to go see a live Disney show of Sofia the First and Jake and the Neverland Pirates on Sunday.  I went with them, and we all enjoyed it.  Mia was dressed up in the new Sofia princess dress that Nana brought her.  Quinn was decked out in his pirate hat and sword.  They had a good time!  There was lots of singing and dancing.  Doc McStuffins opened the show.  The kids enjoyed seeing a lot of their favorite Disney characters including Mickey and Minnie.
