Mia had a busy weekend. She and I went to Heavener for the 4th. Wesley had to work, so it was our first road trip by ourselves. It was interesting...We had some tears, a diaper blowout, and she pooped in the backseat while being changed (ironically enough), but honestly, all I could do was laugh. Well, except when there were tears. We had a good time in Heavener. Mia went swimming for the first time on Friday. She and I got in the pool at Papaw and Nana Bev's. Mamaw was there as well to see Mia's aquatic debut. Mia likes baths, so I thought she would do well. She LOVED it! She sprawled out on her belly and kept kicking her legs. Hopefully, we'll get in the pool again sometime this summer when we are up there. Papaw is still working with Mia on growling at people. He gets a big kick out of it, so he wants her to learn to do it on command. It's pretty funny. We also visited with my friends Nikki and Angela and Nikki's 3-year-old daughter, Elisabeth. She's a doll! She informed Angela and I that sometime soon her hair will turn red, and we will have to start calling her Ariel. Obviously, she is going through a Little Mermaid phase. It was so cute!
The 4th was pretty busy. We spent much of the day at Nanny and Papa's house. There were quite a few people there, and Mia loved all of the attention she got. She also loved getting her pacifier dipped in homemade icecream. She kept eyeing my cheeseburger, but I put my foot down. Not until you get teeth, child! She's so funny. Mia had fun playing with Shayna and Kaylee, too. They kept her busy which is the way she likes it. I don't remember ever having that much energy! Mia stayed up past her bedtime to see some fireworks. Grammy, Pa Pa, Mia, and I sat out on the pool deck and watched all of the neighbors' fireworks until it started to rain. Mia just stared at them. I guess she was trying to figure them out. Hopefully, my pictures will be better now since we got a new camera. I could never work the other one correctly. Technology and I don't always get along very well.
