Downtown Gem

Today we explored a place downtown we hadn't been to before.  Thanks-Giving Square is a beautiful Dallas gem that now goes on my list of local favorites.  The outside areas are beautiful and covered in scripture.  I saw a mosaic on one wall that reminds me of one I saw at the United Nations in New York City.  The water features are breathtaking.  They weren't all on while we were there, but I would love to go back and see them all going at the same time.  They have a museum, but it wasn't open.  We were able to go into the chapel, and it was lovely.  I kept taking pictures trying to capture the beauty of the stained glass on the ceiling, but the photos just don't do it justice.  It was a place for quiet reflection...at least it's supposed to be...not so much when you put a 6 year old and 2 year old in there.

This evening we went to the drive-in and watched the movie Home.  Quinn is still too young to sit through a movie in the theater, but he did great at the drive-in.  He was able to move around a bit.  He alternated between sitting in his chair, my lap, and Wesley's lap.  He and Mia ended up in the back of the car since we had the back hatch up.  They made a nest of blankets and were quite comfortable.  They do double features at that drive-in, but we knew the kids couldn't stay up for the Avengers movie.  We headed home, and they were both asleep in five minutes (or less).  It was a great family day!
