Green Table

It got down into the 40s at night while we were camping.  I'd packed fleece pj's and such for Mia, so she stayed warm, even flinging off blankets at night.  During the day, it would get around the mid 80s, so it was quite a temperature difference.  That's the desert for ya.  Sweatshirts in the morning and shorts by noon.  We took Mia on one of the shorter guided tours of cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde.  It was a one and a half hour ranger-guided tour of Long House.  Each set of cliff dwellings had a different name.  For that one (as with most of them), you have to hike down into a canyon to see the dwellings as the ranger tells you things about the lives of the Ancestral Puebloans.  Some of the trails were steep and many of the paths had no railings, so we had to carry Mia a good bit of the way.  She was away from home, out of her routine, and surrounded by a bunch of strangers, so she didn't behave like the little lady we had hoped she would be.  It was so neat to see the dwellings, but it was difficult to take pictures of them since I was terrified my little daredevil would scamper off the edge of a cliff.  We enjoyed the tour, but we were worried about the next day's tour.  It was a 3 1/2 hour tour of several different dwellings.  Mia's behavior had left something to be desired on the one and a half hour tour, and we didn't want to ruin anyone else's experience if she decided to have a meltdown on the long tour.  Wesley decided to stay at camp with her the next day while the rest of us went on the tour.  I love that man.  He said that it was fine and that he just wanted to make sure that I had a good time.  Isn't he sweet?  After getting back from our Long House tour that evening, Papaw made a campfire, and we roasted marshmallows for smores.   Mmmmm!  Delicious!  It was Mia's first time to have a smore.  She liked it, but she studied it like she was trying to figure out exactly what it was.

In case you're wondering, when we got down to them, I did in fact carry Mia up those ladders.  Just call me Muscles. Lol.

 Mia's first smore - yummy!
Needed just one more marshmallow with Papaw
