Family Day

We took a trip over to Arlington today to visit Traders Village.  We had never been there, but I had heard that it was like a giant flea market.  I was told that there were rides for the kids and many food vendors.  I don't know if it was because of the cold and rain or if it's simply because it's November, but the rides and most all of the food vendors were closed.  Many of the booths were open, but the kids really weren't into it.  Mia was disappointed about not being able to go on the rides.  We explored the place for awhile, but we finally decided that it would be best to come back in the spring when the weather is nicer.

After leaving there, we went to have some lunch.  We went to our old OTB in Arlington.  Wes and I used to eat there all of the time when we lived in Arlington before we had kids.  Quinn was exhausted.  The poor little guy fell asleep in the restaurant, so we just let him snooze for awhile.  Mia doesn't nap, so she chowed down.  Our kids are always ready for Mexican food.

Just had to throw this one in for good measure.  This is Quinn later that evening playing Fruit Ninja on the iPad.  He loves to play it.  He's getting pretty good.

New Daisy

Mia chose to join Girl Scouts this year.  As a kindergartener, this is the first year that she's been old enough.  She didn't really know what it was, but she thought the idea of selling cookies sounded like fun.  I think she still doesn't truly know what it's about, but she enjoys going to the meetings.  She was pleased to find out that a few of her friends are in her Girl Scout troop as well including an old friend she hasn't seen in a couple of years because that girl goes to a different school.  Tonight was the investiture ceremony to welcome new girls to the troop.  Mia was so proud and got her first patch!  I hope she continues to enjoy it.  I loved Girl Scouts when I was a little girl.

Wanna Play?

We had been promising Mia a trip to Peter Piper, so we took both kids this afternoon.  You never know what you'll get in those pizza/games/general kid craziness places.  Peter Piper was fun for the kids, though, and the pizza was good to boot.  Mia wanted someone to play air hockey with her, so Quinn volunteered.  They both really enjoyed it.  After one of Mia's scores, she was celebrating so much (and not paying attention), that Quinn scored on her.  Haha! Little Q could barely see over the table, but he liked it anyway!

Donut Shop

We went to our friendly, neighborhood donut shop for breakfast this morning.  We love to stop in there on the weekends when we get a chance.  It doesn't hurt that they have amazing breakfast croissants!  It's definitely one of our Oak Cliff favorites.

Park Day With Friends

Mia was out of school today, so I took off work to stay home with her since Wes had to work.  I kept Quinn home, and a couple of Mia's friends spent the day with us, too.  Pearson and Riley are two of Mia's closest buddies, so she was thrilled to have them over.  They played non-stop all day.  The weather was beautiful today, but there is cold weather coming.  I decided to take advantage of the nice day, so we walked to our neighborhood park.  Being able to do that is one of my favorite things about living in Oak Cliff.

Mia wore one of her fairy outfits over her clothes, and Pearson dressed up as Cinderella.  They all had a ball at the park.  Quinn wanted to do everything the big kids did as usual.  It was a fun day, and Mia is already planning for the next time we have her friends over.

Daddy's Boots

What is the fascination that kids have with wearing grown-ups' shoes?  I remember doing that when I was a kid, too.  Mia and Quinn like to stumble around with both mine and Wesley's shoes on if we leave them sitting out.  Even if they fall down, they don't take them off.  I guess it's like playing dress up.

Precious 2 Year Old

My friend, Julie, took some pictures of Quinn last week.  Obviously, I take pictures of him all of the time, but I always love the way her's turn out.  We went to Twelve Hills Nature Center to let him mill around and play while she took the pictures.  He did a good job, but his curious little 2 year old self was too preoccupied with everything there was to explore to sit still very long.  She got some great shots as always.  Julie also took some pictures of both Mia and Quinn for our Christmas card, but I'll share those later after the cards get mailed.  This precious boy just melts my heart.  I'm so blessed to be his momma!
