As much as I enjoy sunny summer days, I'm way past done with the heat. We are on our 59th day of 100+ degree heat for the summer (not consecutive days. I think there have only been two days under 100 degrees in the past couple of months). I think it got up to 106 today. That's just miserable heat. It can be dangerous too. We haven't taken Mia to the park in several weeks. Almost all of our activities have been indoors. I think I'm ready for fall. It's my favorite season.
Case in point: Mia eating a chocolate Easter bunny that I had been saving for some reason. This was quite an enjoyable indoor activity!
Yesterday when I went to pick Mia up from school, I asked her how her day had been. She replied, "I wasn't bossy, Mommy!" Mmmhmm. Sure you weren't. I'm glad that she has an outgoing personality, but we have to remind her to ask people for things rather than just telling them what to do. The other evening at dinner, I told her to be still so that she wouldn't knock over her drink. She said, "You need to be nice, Mommy." I said, "I am being nice, but you need to listen." Mia replied, "I'm trying, Mommy! I'm trying!" I'm sure that she does, but her little two-year-old attention span is too short to allow her to dwell on anything very long. Another funny conversation came yesterday. Mia was eating a breakfast quesadilla. For some reason, she was walking around with it. She sat it on the ottoman and walked off. I picked it up and put it back on her plate. When she returned to the living room, she said, "Where's my quesadilla?" I told her that I had put it on the plate. She got a little huffy and said, "I don't believe that you put my quesadilla on the plate! I don't believe it, Mommy!" She meant to say "can't believe it". It was funny, but it warranted a reminder that she needs to remember to speak to people in a nice voice. She's the sweetest little girl, but she's not shy about voicing her opinions.
She and I cleaned her room on Sunday. I wanted to really scrub it good. She helped me carry everything out into the hallway. We wiped down all of her furniture and scrubbed the baseboards and her playmat. Mia loves the cleaning supplies that Mimi and Pa Pa got her for Christmas. I swept the floor, and she swept too with her little broom. I swiffered the floor, and she swiffered too. She still likes to scrub the hardwood floors with a baby wipe, so that kept her entertained for awhile. We put all of her toys back in her room, and I went into the kitchen. A few minutes later, I went to check on her, and she was taking all of her things out of her room again. She said, "Mommy, we
have to clean my room again!" Haha! I reminded her that it was clean, and we put her toys away again. An hour later, it was the same thing. I came around the corner, and her floor cushions were lined up in the hallway. The girl likes to clean.
Ready to clean again...
and again...
