We met several friends at Campisi's this evening for dinner. It's an annual tradition for all of us to meet there with our families and then walk down to the Main Street Garden for the lighting of the Dallas Christmas tree. Santa Claus showed up at the park, too. I don't just mean he pulled up in a car and got out, either. As we were trying to find a good place to stand so that all of the kids could see the tree when they lit it, we heard a noise that kept getting louder. We soon saw that it was a helicopter but didn't think much of it at first. This is Dallas after all. There are always news choppers, police choppers, etc flying around. As the helicopter got closer and stopped to hover over the park, we saw a long cord drop and a figure emerge. It was Santa! Mind you, they did not land the helicopter. It was hovering above some tall (at least three story) buildings. Santa came down the cord into the park! Us adults loved it as much as the kids! Once he was safely on the ground and the helicopter had left, they lit the "tree". It isn't a real one. It's a metal frame with lights on it. It's okay though, because they shoot fireworks off of it. They were also shooting off fireworks from the rooftops of surrounding buildings. It was quite a sight, and the kids enjoyed it.
Someone thought she needed to ride on Daddy's shoulders.
It was clearly the best place to see Santa make his grand entrance and watch fireworks.
The most exciting part for Quinn was getting ice cream when we were finished!
