Mia got all dressed up again as Holly Golightly to go trick or treating for Halloween. If anything involves candy, she's all for it. We thought our blonde-haired Quinn would make a great Calvin from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. His costume was really easy because he just needed black pants and a red and black striped shirt. However, we knew that nobody would "get it" without a Hobbes. I scoured the internet and discovered that the creator of the comic strip never allowed his characters to be sold commercially as toys. That was a bummer. Fortunately, I found a woman on Etsy who crochets a very realistic Hobbes. Quinn loves it. He picks it up and gives it hugs. Then he throws it on the floor. One year olds can be fickle like that. :)
It was just me with Mia and Quinn, so she had to go up to each door by herself since I couldn't take Q's stroller up any stairs onto porches. She did a great job, and got lots of candy. Once it got dark, we had to head home. There were lots of people out, and Mia and Quinn were getting tired. Wes was home when we got back, so we went back out and walked to a few more houses in our neighborhood. The kids were exhausted when we got home, but Mia had fun.
Happy New Year!
