Things My Daddy Taught Me

Before having kids, it's impossible to fully understand a parent's love for a child.  I knew that Wes would be a good father, but the way that Mia touches his heart is a special thing to witness.  Last night after she was asleep, he went into her room just to look at her.  There's something about watching your child sleep that is almost magical at times.  Wes and Mia have a lot of fun together.  I'm starting to think that her sense of humor is similar to his.  He teaches her to say random stuff that makes them both laugh.  Some current favorites are "Hey, Doll Face!" and "What's up, Buttercup?"
They also like to make silly faces at each other.  Mia knows just how to time them to make us laugh when we are trying to get on to her.  Wes is more susceptible to this than I am, I think.  He'll say, "Well, Mia....." and then turn his head so that she can't see him laugh.  Someday she'll figure out that the fact that he's covering his face as his shoulders shake is a dead giveaway that he's trying not to laugh out loud.
When she was a baby, he used to pretend that she was a guitar.  He used to call it "playing the Mia-tar".  He was showing her how he plays a real guitar the other evening.
Mia is a little too young to play a real guitar by herself, so Daddy taught her how to play air guitar.  Here she is showing off what she learned.
Those two make me smile......
