Welcome to the Jungle

We made our first trip over to the Ft. Worth Zoo.  We met my friend, Jill, and her family there.  We have been to the Dallas Zoo many times and always enjoy it.  I had heard great things about the zoo in Ft. Worth, and it did not disappoint.  The weather was very nice, and the animals were all out enjoying the sun.  I like that you can walk all of the way around some of the exhibits.  If an animal is on the other side, you can just walk around to see it.  I only took a few pictures because I just took my phone.  Plus, Quinn kept trying to wander off.  He and Mia liked the Ft. Worth Zoo, so I know that we'll make another visit.

Checking out the alligator
He really wanted to touch the snake.

Double Birthday Party!

We went to Heavener this weekend to celebrate my niece's first birthday party.  Annabelle Reese is a precious little girl who I love dearly.  She is so tiny and sweet.  I could just eat her up!  She's always smiling.  She did an awesome job destroying her smash cake.  Mia and Quinn mostly played in the icing of their smash cakes, but Annabelle annihilated that thing!  Nice job Little Bit!

We were also celebrating my nephew, Connor's, fourth birthday.  He likes the Power Rangers, so he brought some cupcakes with that theme.  He loves to pretend to be a ninja and will sword fight with anyone who is willing.  He's a sweet boy, and I'm glad we got to be there with him as well.  Connor doesn't like to have his picture taken, but I got one when he wasn't looking. :)

Q's Faves at 18 Months

Quinn is a year and a half old.  Before I know it, I'll be planning his second birthday party.  Wow.  He's moving out of the baby stage and going full throttle into Toddler Town.  He's started with the temper tantrums.  I know that a lot of it stems from not always being able to communicate to us what he needs or wants.  At least we've been through this stage before with Mia, so we knew it was coming.  He's still our sweet boy, though.  One of his very favorite things is books.  He wants us to read to him all of the time.  "Us" includes Mia too.  She's good about reading him books she knows and making up stories for the books she's not as familiar with.  He wants to do everything that Mia does, so we are constantly having to remind her of that.  The other day she was showing him how much fun it was to jump on her bed.  Geez.  Quinn isn't scared of anything.  Even if he does something that gets him hurt, he wants to do it again until he masters it.  He wants to do everything by himself.  Sometimes that makes me nervous, but I know he has to learn to do things on his own eventually. He still loves baths and runs to the bathroom when he hears the bath water get turned on.  I'm glad, but then he doesn't want to get out after bath time.  He just loves to play in there.
Chocolate croissant. Yum!

St. Patrick's Day

Today was just a normal day around here.  Mia wore her uniform to school as usual, but she wore a green headband and a shamrock necklace.  She really was paranoid that someone would pinch her.  It was good that she doubled up on the green because a classmate accidentally broke her necklace.  Quinn wore his green shirt, but with a name as Irish as his, he shouldn't be required to wear any green.  After school, Q was upset that I was making dinner instead of playing with him.  I gave him a plastic spatula and a Solo cup to occupy him.  It's funny the things that kids play with.  He just beat on that cup like a drum for quite awhile.  Then, he and Mia were wrestling in the floor.  That's a favorite past time for these two.

Sleepover

Mia went to a sleepover at her friend Pearson's house last night.  Their friends Riley and Reese were there also.  The kids love to be together especially since we don't get to see Reese as often as we would like.  The kids immediately went tearing through P's house and had a grand ol' time.  Before I even left, they all had dress up clothes on...well, except for Riley.  He wasn't about to put a dress on.  Haha!  Mia adores sleepovers and enjoyed it.  As usual, she didn't want to leave the next day.  She'd probably stay at Pearson's house every night if we'd let her!

Roly poly time!
